Elderly people aged 65 years or older comprise more than 25% of the Japanese population, and Japan is poised to become the world's first “super-aged” society. Consequently, the number of elderly people who require care is also expected to increase. In addition, numerous elderly people in urgent need of care are recipients of caregiving services at nursing homes and other resident-type facilities [1].
