We enter academic nursing with noble intentions: to call attention to the big questions and discover equally big answers; to channel our curiosities toward some social good and make better the lives of patients, families, and communities; to create and expand the evidence that informs our practice; to carve out niches and develop our own programs of research that will improve our patients ’ health.
