Factors associated with perceived loss of libido in people who inject opioids: Results from a community-based survey in France

Opioid substitution treatments (OST), specifically methadone and buprenorphine, were introduced in France in the early 1990s. They provide several health benefits for opioid users, especially a reduction in fatal overdoses and HIV transmission (Emmanuelli and Desenclos, 2005), an improvement in the management of HIV (Cadet-Ta ïrou et al., 2015; Roux et al., 2009), better global health, and social improvements like reduced criminal activity and increased employment rates (Blom Nilsson et al., 2015; Hubbard et al., 2003; Lawrinson et al., 2008).
