Care in patients with epidermal necrolysis in burn units. A nursing perspective

Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) and SJS/TEN overlap, are severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCAR) usually caused by drugs and characterized by fast progressing epidermal detachment and mucosal sloughing; they differ from each other in the extent of epidermal detachment [1 –4]. The term Epidermal Necrolysis (EN) has been recently proposed to group them all [5].
