Mental Health and Physical Activity (MENPA): Celebrating the first decade

Publication date: Available online 7 June 2018Source: Mental Health and Physical ActivityAuthor(s): Adrian H. Taylor, Guy FaulknerSummaryMental Health and Physical Activity was established with five broad aims. As co-founding editors in chief we have had the freedom to develop and steer the journal independently of any organisation or learned society. This has been both a positive and at times a negative as we sought to build the journal’s reputation and increase the number of submissions in isolation. We do now feel that we are really starting to see the benefits of having a wide following and the journal’s reputation is growing exponentially. This is reflected in our growing impact factor. Nevertheless, competing demands from our day job and families, as well as the need to keep physically active, mean that we will be exploring new ways to manage the journal and welcome enquiries from extremely enthusiastic people, with a track record of publishing on a related topic, who wish to support MENPA as members of the editorial board, Associate Editors or as Chief Editors. After ten years we feel confident that we have laid strong foundations for MENPA to flourish in the future.
