Offering physical activity advice to people with serious mental illness: The beliefs of mental health professionals

ConclusionsOffering physical activity advice to people with SMIs as part of an individualised care plan in a community setting was viewed as beneficial by healthcare workers. However, barriers exist that may impede advice giving. The TPB framework is useful for exploring and describing these characteristics. Further quantitative research is needed to examine relationships between the beliefs identified in this study and advice giving behaviour.
