Emergence of multiple carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative species, colistin-resistant KPC-2-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae ST11, IMP-7-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa ST357 and OXA-23-producing Acinetobacter baumannii ST1050, in a single patient

Carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacteria are often multidrug-resistant (MDR) and pose serious problems in terms of clinical treatment and infection control. Here, we report isolation of three distinct carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacteria, as well as extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Citrobacter freundii, from a patient recently transferred from a hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia to Teikyo University Hospital in Tokyo, Japan.
