High serum levels of tenascin-C are associated with suicide attempts in depressed patients

Major depressive disorder is a crucial public health challenge and is considered the most significant cause of disability worldwide (Smith., 2014), contributing to soaring treatment costs and lost labor productivity (Beddington et al., 2008). The etiology and pathophysiology of depressive disorder remain poorly understood, and identifying new biological markers may bring deeper insights and improved diagnosis.
