Diagnostic role of fine needle aspiration cytology in mediastinal lymphadenopathy, with emphasis on subcarinal lymph nodes

Conclusion: FNAC under CT guidance is a highly sensitive and specific technique for the diagnosis of mediastinal lymphadenopathy, including less accessible sites such as the subcarinal group. Results are markedly improved when FNAC is used in conjunction with ancillary techniques such as immunocytochemistry, microbiological, biochemical, and clinicoradiological studies.
