The impact of the use of video-based educational interventions on patient outcomes in hospital settings: A scoping review

The World Health Organization recognizes that patient education is essential for improving patient participation in disease management [1]. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, more than 50% of adults and nearly 90% of seniors in Canada have difficulty in reading or understanding the information provided with their medical prescriptions [2]. It has also been shown that lower health literacy is consistently associated with increased hospitalization, emergency care visits, and non-adherence to patient medication regimes [3].
