Toxicity of Latex Rubber in Artificial Vaginas on Equine Sperm
Three experiments were conducted. Experiment 1 evaluated the effects of 24-h exposure of extender (INRA96, IMV Technologies, L ’Aigle, France) to rubber at four different temperatures (4°, 22°, 38°, or 45°C) on semen quality. Artificial vagina (AV) rubber from 3 sources (Reproduction Resources [RR], Animal Reproduction Systems [ARS], and NASCO) was subjected to several cleaning methods (DI water only [R], washed with detergent and rinsed with DI water [D], or soaked in alcohol and rinsed with DI water [A]).
