Uterine Bacterial Isolates From Mares and Their Resistance to Antimicrobials

Uterine infections are an important cause of reduced fertility in mares and contribute to a major economic loss in the equine industry. Antimicrobials are commonly used to treat endometritis. Antimicrobial resistance is a growing problem in veterinary and human medicine. Knowledge of commonly encountered bacteria infecting mares ’ reproductive tracts and their respective antimicrobial susceptibilities should improve treatment efficacy in mares with endometritis, as well as aid in ongoing antimicrobial safeguarding.
