Predictability of short implants

Although total edentulism is much less common today than in the past, there remain patients who need teeth replaced so they can have a more functional and esthetically pleasing dentition. Implants are often used for totally or partially edentulous patients and have a high rate of success. Short implants, defined as less than 10 mm long, were developed as an alternative to standard implants, which are more costly, require a high degree of surgical expertise, and take more surgical time and additional appointments.
