Intentional replantation

For patients having endodontic treatment, nonsurgical root canal treatment is the initial approach, although sometimes additional treatment is needed when apical periodontitis is present. Retreatment can be undertaken, or surgery, but extraction and intentional replantation is a treatment option that is often overlooked as an option in cases where nonsurgical and surgical retreatments carry an unfavorable prognosis or a high risk. Instead, implants are generally selected. Although they have a high rate of success, they are costly and do not always meet the needs of the patient.
