Prosthodontic rehabilitation and nutrition in older adults

More older adults are retaining their natural teeth into older ages. As a result, these natural teeth are at increased risk for developing chronic dental diseases, especially when hyposalivation is a problem. Age-related systemic diseases can make it difficult to properly cleanse natural teeth as well as removable dental prostheses, which can lead to further problems. The ability to chew foods can be adversely affected by the presence of diseased teeth or the absence of sufficient occluding pairs of teeth.
