Reply to the letter regarding "Population-based survey of inpatient pediatric tonsillectomy and postoperative hemorrhage in Taiwan, 1997-2012."
We thank Dr. Mark C. Kendall for his valuable comments on our population-based study, and the questions raised regarding methodological approach in this manuscript [1]. In Taiwan, the National Health Insurance covers 99% of country's 23 million inhabitants [2]. The National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) in Taiwan allows researchers to conduct population-based epidemiologic analyses of diseases and procedures to facilitate daily practice of clinical physicians [2,3].
