Men ’ s Health Month

June is Men’s Health Month. The Centers for Disease Control says that on average, men in the U.S. die 5.6 years earlier than women, and at higher rates from 9 of the 10 leading causes of death. The Office of Minority Health is focusing on advocating for men and boys to get screenings for preventable health problems — as well as encouraging good health habits in general — during Men’s Health Month. There are five themes, called Plays, for this year’s campaign, highlighting the importance of heart health, daily exercise, regular checkups, mental health and smoking cessation. Visit the Office of Minority of Health website to download the Five Plays for Men’s Health materials and to learn more about men’s health.
