Summer Food Safety

Summer weather is a time for gathering of friends and family on picnics and cookouts. It is also a time when foodborne illnesses can increase. But with a few safety tips much of this can be avoided. Planning to barbecue? First of all, check to make sure your grill is safe to use. The National Fire Protection Association offers safety tips such as where to place the grill, how to make sure of no leaks in propane tanks, and how to safely start a charcoal grill. The CDC offers tips on how to grill your food safely and Foodsafety.gov provides additional information on how to keep food safe at picnics. Take the time and follow these tips so you and others can enjoy cookouts all summer long!
