Immune aberrations in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: a case-control study from a tertiary care neuropsychiatric hospital in India
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is a group of heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorders with persistent deficits in social interaction, language and communication abnormalities and stereotypical behavior (American Psychiatric Association 2013). Recent studies have reported an alarming rise in the prevalence of ASD (Christensen et al., 2016). The pathophysiology of ASD remains unclear and studies have reported association of several genetic and environmental factors (Mefford et al., 2012; Rossignol et al., 2014).
