Resolution of Herpes Simplex in the Nose Wing Region using Photodynamic Therapy and Photobiomodulation
Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) is a DNA virus in the family Herpes viridae that causes primary herpetic gingivostomatitis and mucocutaneous lesions in the orofacial region including lips, nose, mouth and eyes [1,2,3]. The patients notice distinct stages as prodrome due to tingling, itching or burning followed by a papule that progresses to being vesicular, crusted and healing [1,4]. The infection could affect children, adolescents and young adults [3] by being transmitted via direct contact with infected secretions [1].
