Functioning in patients with schizophrenia: A multicentre study evaluating the clinical perspective
Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by the presence of positive symptoms, neuropsychological problems and functional deficits that affect not only the patient's general health but also his or her autonomy, work performance, social relationships and other daily activities (Rajji et al., 2014; Solanki et al., 2010). If disability is defined in terms of functioning, then over 85% of patients with schizophrenia are estimated to have some form of disability (Wiersma et al., 2000).
