Metabolic syndrome elevates the risk for mortality and severity in acute pancreatitis.
Objectives Several studies have confirmed that obesity (BMI>30) increases the severity and mortality of acute pancreatitis (AP), however, no information is available whether its effect is independent or joint with the components of metabolic syndrome (MS). Our aim is to understand whether obesity is an independent risk factor for mortality and severity of AP.
