Matricellular protein SPARC determines severity but not regeneration of caerulein-induced pancreatitis in mice

Objectives SPARC (secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine) is a matricellular protein and has been implicated in wound healing, cell migration and regeneration processes. Upon inflammatory or neoplastic stimuli, SPARC is predominantly activated in fibroblasts. In the present study, we investigate the impact of genetic SPARC ablation during the course of acute, caerulein-induced pancreatitis in mice.
