Pancreatic cystic lesions in diabetes mellitus patients
Objectives According to literature and previous data from our department, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency is relatively common among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Marked alterations in the exocrine pancreas are observed in patients with DM, including changes in size, morphology, and histology. Atrophy of the gland and acini, lymphocytic infiltration, moderate to severe fibrosis, and fatty changes are usually noted. Pseudocysts are the most common cystic lesions and may be formed in the setting of acute or chronic pancreatitis.
