The Characterization of “Islet Invasion” in pancreatic Ductal adenocarcinoma

Objectives Insulin and insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signaling axis prompts pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma/PDAC into an advanced stage by enhancing tumor growth,metastasis and therapy resistance. In the pancreas tissue, the main source of insulin is the Langerhans ’ islets. Importantly, PDAC cells also invade islets during carcinogenesis and distort their structure, but this “islet invasion” has never been systematically characterized.
