First experience with continuous glucose monitoring after pancreatic surgery
Objectives Pancreatogenic diabetes plays a major role in the quality of life after pancreatic surgery. The development of a new-onset diabetes mellitus after pancreatic resection is dependent on the progression of the underlying disease, the type of surgery and the extent of resection. Up to 18% of patients with pancreaticoduodenectomy and 31% of patients with distal pancreatectomy develop a new-onset diabetes mellitus postoperatively. Due to increasingly radical resections the incidence of pancreatogenic diabetes rises.
