Variant hepatic artery in pancreatoduodenectomy for adenocarcinoma – Does it have influence on postoperative complications and oncological radicality?

Objectives The anatomical variants of the hepatic artery (HA) can be found in up to 30% of population. Most common variants - a replaced or accessory right HA - may pose technical challenges during pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) for pancreatic adenocarcinoma as a result of its proximity to the head of pancreas. The aim of our study is to compare the outcome following a PD in patients with and without a variant HA arising from superior mesenteric artery.
