Adaptive immune response during acute pancreatitis is regulated by NLRP3 inflammasome activation via interleukin 18
Objectives The Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) is responsible for the severity and mortality in acute pancreatitis. Inflammasome activation within phagocytosing macrophages via damage-associated-molecular-patterns (DAMPs) could play an important role for the cross talk between the innate and adaptive immune system. Here we investigated the cross talk between pancreatic macrophages and T-cells via inflammasome-mediated cytokine response.
