Nutrition support team activities can improve enteral nutrition administration in intensive care units

Enteral nutrition therapy (ENT) is the first treatment line to feed patients on mechanical ventilation or patients at nutritional risk in intensive care units (ICU), once they cannot rely only on oral nutrition to fulfill its needs1. Because of its complications risks, the ENT is considered a complex therapy and involves high operational costs2. Nowadays, the Nutrition support teams (NST) are the groups responsible to control the ENT quality and all the aspects involved in the nutritional care, which is determined by law in some countries.
