Prevalence and sociodemographic correlates of overweight and obesity in a large Pan-European cohort of preschool children and their families. The ToyBox-study
A worldwide increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in preschool age has been previously reported and is predicted to reach 9.1% in 2020 [1]. Early childhood obesity has been shown to track into adulthood [2], while it has been associated with increased risk for non-communicable diseases like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and specific types of cancer, later in life [3, 4].
