Plan for retirement

Planning for retirement takes decades and should begin well before the retirement date. Among the components are a commitment to savings, a focus on reaching goals, and expert help in reaching goals as quickly as possible. In addition, any retirement plan must be flexible to manage changes in goals, life situations, the practice itself, and the larger economy. A recent survey revealed that about 35% of general dentists are delaying their retirement because of the economy. In addition, the dental economy that developed after the post-2008 recession includes greater levels of competition, fewer adult patients, and changes in how consumers view the twice-yearly dental appointment.
