Fluoride improves caries levels

Surveys done in the United Kingdom since 1985 have gathered robust data about caries levels in children living in various regions of the country. According to these records up to 2008, improved caries levels among 12- and 14-year-olds have continued since fluoride toothpaste was introduced in adult toothpastes, but 5-year-olds maintained their prevalence and severity between 1992 and 2006. The surveys done between 2008 and 2015 have, however, indicated an apparent reduction in the severity and prevalence of caries in 5-year-olds living in England and Wales.
