Clinical experiences of ultrasound-guided lumbar erector spinae plane block for hip joint and proximal femur surgeries

There are several anecdotal reports of Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB) - recently described by Forero et al. [1], being used for thoracic and abdominal surgeries [2,3]. All reported ESPB have been performed from the thoracic area, with only one report from our institute of ESPB performed from the lumbar area [4]. Herein, we present our experience in 12 patients undergoing hip and proximal femur surgery in which lumbar ESPB was performed.
