Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 level in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most prevalent monogenic renal disease and it is responsible for 10% of the patients on renal replacement therapy, including kidney transplantation. Recently, it was reported, that serum CA 19-9 level is significantly elevated in ADPKD patients without malignancy. Exclusion of malignancy, including tumour markers analysis is essential in pre-transplant evaluation, as well as kidney transplantation recipients assessment. On this account, serum CA 19-9 level in ADPKD patients, without malignancy was retrospectively analysed.
