Beginner ’s Guide to Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act’s Quality Payment Program

As radiology residents and fellows graduate and embark in their first positions as independently practicing radiologists, they will face issues related to medical billing, which may be new for many. In the coming years in particular, billing in medicine will be experiencing incredible changes related to the quality payment program (QPP) enacted under the Medicare Access and CHIP (Children ’s Health Insurance Program) Reauthorization Act (MACRA) of 2015. Although the QPP applies only to Medicare beneficiaries, the effects of the QPP will likely be felt across all payers.
