Migration and health in the world: a global public health perspective
Our ancestors have been on the move since prehistory. With advancements in modern technologies, particularly the paleogenomic analysis, we are now able to make an approximate reconstruction of the time, sequence, and direction of the migration of Homo sapiens out of Africa some 70,000 years ago. It is widely thought that these early migrations were driven by the same basic human impulse in search for better living conditions —the need for safety and security, more food and resources, and better climates—that continue to drive migrations today.
