Use of In-chamber TCOM to Determine Optimal Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Pressure – Abstract of Presentation from ACCWS 7th Annual Symposium
Introduction/Background: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is used to promote healing in problem wounds. Transcutaneous oxygen measurement (TCOM) can be used to predict response of these wounds to HBOT. Fife et al. demonstrated that in-chamber transcutaneous oxygen pressure (TcPO2) 200–299 mmHg and higher had significantly improved response rates of nearly 80%. In-chamber TCOM values can also be used to determine appropriate treatment pressure while minimizing risk.
