Effective phthalocyanines mediated photodynamic therapy with doxorubicin or methotrexate combination therapy at sub-micromolar concentrations in vitro
One of the leading causes of death in developed countries is cancer, and it is currently at the second position in developing countries after cardiovascular diseases [1]. In 2015 in the United States a new diagnosis was given to up to 12,900 cervical-, 22,850 brain- and 234,190 breast-cancer patients alone, among the total of over 1.6 million cancers being diagnosed [2]. In Pakistan breast and cervical cancer combined are the leading causes of death in females, reaching 1 out of 9 women being affected by breast cancer.
