[Comment] Transcranial magnetic stimulation for depression

Depression is a common and disabling condition that is the leading single cause of disability in high-income and middle-income countries. There is good evidence that antidepressants and psychotherapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), are effective treatments. However, many people do not respond to these treatments. Only about 30% of people respond to a 3-month course of antidepressants1 and, in the CoBalT study2 of people who had not responded to antidepressants, about half also did not respond to CBT.
