Erector spinae plane block for combined lovectomy and radical mastectomys

An erector spinae plane (ESP) block, firstly reported in 2016, has been shown to be able to block the dorsal and ventral rami of the thoracic spinal nerves [1,2]. Additionally, it may also block sympathetic nerve fibers [3]. Therefore, it may provide pain relief for thoracic surgery. We herein report successful use of the ESP block for combined thoracic and breast surgery. Our patient was an 83-year-old woman (148cm, 53kg) who underwent a combined left lower lobectomy for primary lung cancer and radical mastectomy for breast cancer.
