Surgical management of traumatic elbow luxation with circumferential suture prostheses in a rabbit (oryctolagus cuniculus)

A 2-year-old dwarf rabbit was referred for right forelimb lameness of one-week duration. An external physical examination and radiographic findings were consistent with elbow luxation. Manual reduction under anesthesia was unsuccessful in corrected the luxated joint. A surgical approach was recommended to repair the rabbit elbow luxation. Trans-condylar, trans-radial, and trans-ulnar tunnels were drilled from lateral to medial with two suture prostheses being placed, one from the radius to the humerus and one from the humerus to the ulna.
