Reply to letter by Floris Groenendaal regarding article “The prognostic value of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy in term newborns treated with therapeutic hypothermia following asphyxia”

In his letter to the editor re “The prognostic value of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy in term newborns treated with therapeutic hypothermia following asphyxia”, Magnetic Resonance imaging 42(2017):82–87, Groenendaal from University Medical Center Utrecht challenges our conclusion that lactate levels had no relation ship with outcome [1]. This would be in sharp contrast with his group's recent findings including ROC analysis with an area under the curve of 0.89 indicating that a Lac/NAA ratio of>0.40 was associated with an adverse outcome [2].
