The history and development of the journal from the view of a founding editor

In writing this editorial I returned to my bound issues of “Foot& Ankle Surgery ” from its inception. The Journal was first published in 1994 (Volume 1 with three issues). It was then entitled “The European Journal of Foot& Ankle Surgery ” and was the official Journal of the European Society of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ESFAS). In Volume 1 all the articles were review articles, written by those who instigated ESFAS with the help of some of their associates. They were Prof. G. Pisani, Drs. MM Stephens, N.
