Peer learning across the curriculum
Peer learning was originally introduced into our nursing curriculum at a mid-sized university as a strategy to provide opportunities for senior nursing students to develop and practice various leadership skills. The identified benefits over time lead to the use of this technique to involve students at all levels of the nursing program. This paper will describe how two nursing faculty in a baccalaureate program use more advanced students across the curriculum to support the learning and professional development of novice nursing students in three different educational settings: the campus skills laboratory, a high-fidelity simulation center, and the clinical setting.
