Simulated presence therapy for dementia

Dementia, characterised by a progressive decline in cognition and function, is a common and serious condition that causes considerable burden on families and the healthcare system (Abraha et al., 2017). The prevalence of dementia is estimated to be 6% in those aged 60 years or older, but increases dramatically with age, with an estimated 43% of adults aged 85 years or older being diagnosed with dementia (Abraha et al., 2017).Dementia is one of the strongest predictors of nursing home admissions (Abraha et al., 2017).
