Terrorism and Travel medicine: Where do we go from here?

Travel Medicine has traditionally focused on the prevention and treatment of various illnesses for individuals traveling to foreign countries. Moreover, Travel Medicine professionals are increasingly using evidence-based practices to advise clients on the health risks associated with travel [1,2]. In recent years Travel Medicine has expanded into a dynamic multidisciplinary specialty encompassing many fields while successfully continuing to promote healthy, safe, and responsible travel. With this inclusive expansion in mind, is it now time to consider terrorism an aspect of Travel Medicine requiring our attention? Is it time to explore the role the field of Travel Medicine plays in the struggle against terrorism?
