WHO bites back rabies pre-travel vaccination schedules – Implications for travel medicine
On World Rabies Day, 28 September 2017, WHO, and three other organizations announced the next strategic plan: ‘Zero by 30’, to achieve zero human deaths from dog-transmitted rabies by 2030 [1,2]. In this One Health approach, a wealth of interventions is proposed. Education, vaccination and where indicated post-exposure treatment of humans and large-scale vaccination of dogs are key elements of this ambi tious elimination plan.
