The Evolving Landscape of Psoriasis Treatment.

The Evolving Landscape of Psoriasis Treatment. Semin Cutan Med Surg. 2018 Feb;37(2S):S39-S43 Authors: Armstrong AW, Gordon KB, Menter MA, Wu JJ Abstract The process of discovering new drugs for plaque psoriasis has revealed much about the multisystemic nature of the disease. Current and emerging biologic agents may reliably achieve a Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI 75) up to 90. Initially, clinicians select therapies based on the severity of the psoriasis. Although mild disease can be treated with topical agents, for patients with moderate to severe disease, concurrent therapy with oral systemic agents, biologics, and/ or phototherapy needs to be considered. In some instances, clinicians may need to combine medications to provide patients with rapid relief of symptoms. Semin Cutan Med Surg 37(supp2):S39-S43. PMID: 29614136 [PubMed - in process]
