A pre-operative CT and non-contrast-enhanced C-arm CT registration framework for trans-catheter aortic valve implantation

Aortic valve disease is the most frequent valvular disease in western countries. According to a population-based study [1], 1.8% of the global population is affected by the disease. Compared to the well established open-chest valve surgery, minimal invasive trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an emerging technique that is especially suitable for non-operable and high-risk surgical candidates with a severe aortic stenosis. Furthermore, it has the potential to replace the open heart surgery for regular risk patients.
