We ’re a finalist for a Market Research Society Award for Application of Research

Arthritis places limits on people’s lives and takes away their ability to do the things they love most. For many, it seriously impacts their daily lives - from getting dressed or making a cup of tea, to being able to continue working and maintain a social life. Yet people with the condition are more likely to hide their arthritis and keep it to themselves.We want all this to change. To do this we needed to widen out from purely focusing on medical scientific research and put people with arthritis front and centre of our work. Research is still incredibly vital and we continue to invest in breakthrough treatments, but we want to do more to help people with arthritis right now.We worked withRevealing Reality to examine the unmet needs of people with arthritis, answering what‘quality of life’ really means for people with the condition and prioritising what would be most effective in changing day-to-day wellbeing. The research exposed the real human impact of arthritis and debunked the pervasive myth that arthritis is exclusively an older person’s condition.The breadth of findings presented an opportunity for us to effect change at every level of the charity. It has directly transformed the way we work, putting people at the heart of everything we do and developing new approaches to medical research, fundraising, and how we lobby policy-makers.Our campaign highlights how research can effectively aid decision-making in an organisation.
